Waiting City

I visited the beach area of Qingdao in China known as "one of the most crowded places in the world" in the off-season. The people was sparse, but there was an image of "crowded city" in my head, so there was a sense of loss wherever I walked. The city was surrounded by a white mist like a sigh, and seemed to be waiting for the summer. This project is collection of the beauty of the waiting scene of such space itself. I thought that the summer would be better not to come while focusing the camera to a quiet space.

「世界で最も混雑する場所のひとつ」として知られる中国・チンタオのビーチ周辺をオフシーズンに訪れました。人の姿はまばらですが、頭の中には「人混みの街」というイメージがあったため、どこを歩いても喪失感がつきまといます。街はため息のような白い霧に包まれ、夏を待ち焦がれているようでもありました。このプロジェクトはそうした空間そのものの「待ち姿」の美しさを集めたものです。静かな空間にカメラを向けながら、夏なんて来なければいいのに、と考えていました。
